How We work
UKC Centre of Art and Technology

Uganda Kids Canada is a Kids Canada initiative. We are not just a charitable organization. We run our centre as a business, and chip away the negative affects of colonialism at a psychological level.

Business and Innovation

  • We help to kickstart micro businesses and support each family as a whole. As an educational centre in Uganda that attracts students and professionals alike, Uganda Kids Canada is quickly becoming known as a centre of innovation.

Transparency and Accountability

  • We believe in transparency and accountability. We demand nothing less from those we work with.

About us

UKC Centre of Art and Technology

KIDS CANADA is a not-for-profit organization that works with kids here in Canada and in Uganda to help build a world of compassion, kindness and human rights for all. Our mission is to help break down the negative gender, cultural and racial stereotypes that hold us all back. Through cultural exchanges of art and technology, children from Canada and Uganda, are given the opportunity to share personal stories and to work on joint projects that encourage collaboration and open dialogue. We are not just a charitable organization. We run our centre as a business and chip away the negative affects of colonialism at a psychological level.

Uganda Kids Canada is a Kids Canada initiative. Our UKC Centre of Art and Technology is based in kirerangalo, a village just 3k away north of Bombo Town and 37km North of Kampala, Uganda's capital.

KAIA QUAN-HEFFRON | assistant director

Hi, my name is Maylynn and I am a Canadian photographer based in Toronto. I am originally from Trinidad & Tobago but many people are just interested in knowing if I'm from China or Japan. Little did I know that this initial collision of race, ethnicity, media, and the negative stereotypes they so often come with, would shape my photographic journey and would take me into local schools and organizations on a mission.

I'm excited that I get to work closely with my two kids, Kaia and Wyatt. I also get to use photography and technology to connect kids, crossing all cultural and economic borders, to help build a more compassionate world for not only my children but for their friends and their new friends, as well.

People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart.
